Frequently Asked Questions

Practical solutions. Fees aligned to your results. A clear process: Identify, Predict, Decide, Execute.

Startups and Solo Entrepreneurs

I am just starting out and money is tight. Can I afford you?

Yes. On project engagements, startups pay a smaller base fee. Most of what we earn on those comes from a performance fee, which we receive only if your business beats targets we set together at the start. If you do not grow, we do not earn the extra.

How do you decide whether my results beat the target?

On project engagements, before work begins, we agree on a few measurable numbers, such as monthly sales, profit, or number of customers, and write down where you are today. The performance fee is based only on improvement above that starting point. Both sides see the same numbers.

My business is just me. Why do I need processes and systems?

Because you cannot grow past yourself without them. If every task lives in your head, you cannot hand work to a new hire, take a day off, or use automation. Simple systems built now cost far less than fixing disorder later.

Will you do the work for me?

No. We set up the systems, teach you how to run them, and give you options with the risks of each. You make the decisions and do the work. That way the knowledge stays in your business after we leave.

What is IPDE?

Our four step process:

  • Identify: find the real problem, not just the symptom.
  • Predict: show the likely outcome of each possible fix, including the risks.
  • Decide: you choose the path with clear information.
  • Execute: you carry it out using the tools and steps we set up and teach.

I have an idea but no customers yet. Can you help?

Yes. We help test whether the idea can work before you spend heavily: who will buy, at what price, what it costs to deliver, and how much money you need before it pays for itself. Sometimes the most valuable answer is that the idea needs to change.

How long will I need you?

Not long. Our goal is to teach once so you can use it for the life of your company. Most work is a defined project with a clear end. If you want help later, our role changes to strategic advisor for major decisions, not daily operations.

I have used free templates and online courses. How is this different?

Templates are generic. We build systems around how your business actually makes money, often using proven methods from other industries that your competitors are not using. We also confirm the system works in practice, not just on paper.

Can you help me get funding?

We help you become ready for it: clean financial records, a realistic plan, and the numbers lenders and investors ask for. When you are ready, we can introduce you to capital contacts. We do not promise funding, because that decision belongs to the lender or investor.

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Honest answers and whatever records you have, even if incomplete: bank statements, sales records, costs, and how you find and serve customers. Missing information is useful too, because it shows where systems are needed.

What should I focus on first: customers, systems, or funding?

It depends on where your business is today, which is why we start by identifying the real problem. For most businesses, the answer is processes first. When processes improve, cash flow and profits usually improve too. Many owners then find that the money they planned to raise is no longer needed, or that it can be used to grow faster instead of fixing problems.

Growing Small and Midsize Businesses

We are already profitable. Why change what works?

Many businesses are profitable in spite of their processes, not because of them. Growth exposes weak points: errors multiply, cash gets tied up, and owners become bottlenecks. We find where money and time are leaking before growth makes it more expensive.

Why start with core processes instead of new technology or AI?

Automating a broken process only makes mistakes happen faster. Once your core operations are clear and consistent, adding automation, AI, new staff, or new locations becomes much easier and cheaper.

How are your fees structured?

For project engagements: a fixed base fee for the defined work, plus a performance fee paid only when your business exceeds agreed targets, such as revenue or profit above an adjusted starting point. On those engagements, our income rises only when yours does. Ongoing advisory and fractional executive engagements have no performance fee.

Is a performance fee more expensive in the end?

Only if you grow. On project engagements, the fee comes from extra results that did not exist before, so you share part of a gain rather than pay from current earnings. If targets are not exceeded, you pay only the base fee.

Our team is busy. How much of their time will this take?

Some, by design. Your team will run these systems after we leave, so they need to learn them. We keep meetings focused and schedule work around operations. Time invested early saves far more time later.

What happens after you leave?

Your team keeps the documented processes, tools, and training. New staff can learn from the same materials. If you wish, we can remain as a strategic advisor for major decisions, but daily operations stay with you.

Who makes the final decisions?

You do. For each important issue, we present options, the likely result of each, and the risks. We give our recommendation and reasons, but the choice is always yours.

Our employees may resist outside consultants. How do you handle that?

We involve the people who do the work, because they usually know where the problems are. We teach rather than impose, so the team understands why changes are made. People resist changes made to them, not changes they help build.

How can you help if you are not from our industry?

We focus on how money, products, and information move through your business, which applies across industries. Our principle is to take systems proven in one industry and apply them in another. This often gives clients an advantage their direct competitors do not have.

Will our information be kept confidential?

Yes. We do not share your information. That is a matter of personal ethics, not just a legal requirement. If you would like a signed confidentiality agreement, we are happy to sign yours or provide a simple template.

How do we know if we need your help?

Common signs include: sales are growing but profit is not, cash is always tight, the owner must approve everything, mistakes repeat, and new employees take too long to learn the job. If two or more sound familiar, your processes are likely holding back growth.

Do you guarantee results?

No honest advisor can guarantee results, because you make the decisions and do the work. On project engagements, what we do guarantee is that our pay is tied to your results: the larger part of our earnings comes only when your business exceeds the targets we agree on together. Ongoing advisory and fractional executive engagements have no performance fee.
